If you’d like to transfer a domain from one registrar to another, you will need to pass through a few security steps. One of them is obtaining a special EPP code from the present domain registrar – as long as you are the domain registrant, since the code is sent to the owner's email address and no one else can obtain it. You’ll need to give this code to the new domain registrar, otherwise they will not be able to start the domain transfer process. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may include numbers or special characters such as commas or dots, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an additional safety measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be altered on a regular basis. Certain registrar companies call this code an Auth key, a domain password or a domain secret as well.
